Along the Route

About PEI and The Island Walk Route

Prince Edward Island is approximately 225 kms in length and less than 50 kilometres wide. The Island Walk trail takes walkers up one side of PEI and down the other.

The Island Walk trail was designed to loop around PEI. Walkers can start the trail in one place and end at the same destination.

Much of the Island Walk (350 km) is on the Confederation Trail which is relatively flat terrain and excellent for walking. The Island Walk route intersects with secluded dirt roads and offers canopies of trees along the trail offering shade in the summer and breathtaking foliage in the fall. Parts of the trail are also along PEI’s stunning shoreline.

Directions & Signage

Directions on the Island Walk are easy to follow as you’re never far from the official route! There is clear signage along the Island Walk trail and the official map is available online. Check out the full Island Walk trail map here.
