We are excited to announce that our first premium Partner is Northumberland Ferries!
Since Prince Edward Island is, well, an Island, there are limited ways to access our beautiful province. If you’re driving from the Maritimes, Northumberland Ferries operates the ferry that runs between Caribou, Nova Scotia and Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island. The ferry is one of only two ways to access the province by car.
During the 75-minute ferry crossing between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island you can sit back, relax, and enjoy every moment of the journey. In addition to the exquisite scenery, Northumberland Ferries offers onboard cafés, live music and entertainment, local creators, food producers, ice cream and more.
The ferry is an authentic Island experience and the perfect way to begin and end your Island Walk adventure.
Once Northumberland Ferries has transported you to PEI’s iconic red shoreline, you will find yourself approximately 5.5 km from the Island Walk route on Section 30 between Murray River and Surrey. If you are on foot you can reach the IW by taking the Confederation Trail connector route we like to call the ‘Ferry Trail’. Or if you’d prefer, you can drive 45 minutes and begin your journey on Section 1 at Joe Ghiz Park in Charlottetown.
Taking the ferry is a truly memorable PEI experience and we’re thrilled Northumberland Ferries has partnered with us to make your Island Walk experience even better.
To celebrate, we have lots of little surprises planned throughout the year starting with our monthly ferry pass draw coming soon.
